Bobcats Waive Three

The Vermilion County Bobcats made some player noise after a quiet weekend on the ice, placing three players on waivers. Gone are right winger T.J. Sneath, center Matt O’Shaughnessy, and defenseman Brendan Murphy. Sneath saw ice time in 26 contests this season with 3 goals and 10 assists, 2 penalty minutes and a +/- of -29. O’Shaughnessy had 4 goals and 8 assists in 22 games with 38 penalty minutes and a +/- of -15. Murphy played in 18 contests, had 2 goals and 3 assists with 12 penalty minutes and a +/- of -16. Bobcats are back in action Friday at home vs. Peoria.

MacDonald To Head Cornjerker Football

Hoopeston Area High School has announced a new head football coach to head their cooperative program with Armstrong Potomac. He is Carrick MacDonald. MacDonald comes over from Fisher, where in his lone season there, the program forfeited their varsity season. They would be credited with 5 varsity losses for the schools that could not make up those games and Fisher would participate as a JV only squad. MacDonald takes over a program from Matthew Leskis who announced his submitted his midyear resignation from the school a few weeks after his team’s season concluded in November. Leskis was 8-25 in 4 seasons with the Cornjerkers, which included a 5-5 playoff season in 2021, the first Hoopeston playoff qualifier in football in 28 years.

Bobcats Acquire Kozachuk

In SPHL news, Fayetteville has traded Defenseman Danylo Kozachuk to Vermilion County for future considerations. Kozachuk spent just 2 games with the Marksman after 15 contests with Quad City. He had an assist and 13 penalty minutes with a +/- of -1 in all 17 contests this season. The Bobcats are back in action Friday hosting Evansville.

Bobcats Make Transactions

The Vermilion County Bobcats placed Center Ryan Widmar and Defenseman Sam Turner on team suspension and signed Right Winger Campbell Balk and Defenseman Mark Kompain to contracts. Widmar has appeared in two games for the Bobcats, scoring a goal and a +/- of +2. The Bobcats have been the 3rd SPHL team that Turner has suited up for this season. In 7 games with the squad, Turner has scored a goal and an assist with 2 penalty minutes and a +/- of -9. Vermilion County is back in action this weekend vs. Quad City.
