The Vermilion County Wind and Solar Panel appointed by the Vermilion County Board to review solar and wind project proposals has approved an application by Invenergy for a wind energy project in the area of Rankin and Hoopeston. The project named “Musketeer” obtained approval after a two-day hearing concluding on Tuesday. The Project must still earn approval from the County Board, but the community has been generally supportive, and Invenergy already has an operating wind project in the same area making approval a bit more likely.
The Vermilion County Board met Tuesday night and approved the appointment- or re-appointment – of Tara Auter as County Board representative for County Board District 5 after former Board member Crisi Walls resigned. Tara Auter previously was appointed as County Board member when Crisi Walls stepped down briefly to be acting Recorder of Deeds before newly elected Matthew Long took that position. Crisi Walls now has resigned after her re-election last year. Tara
Auter is now again representing County Board District 5.
The County Board also approved a loan to the Child Advocacy Center, listed as a private 501(c)3 group with assurances of reimbursement from a State grant. The County tax levy was addressed but no action was taken and the meeting was recessed to October to potentially finalize the tax levy and budget for the County for the fiscal year starting December 1 st .
