Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul (kwah-me ra-OOL) has joined another multistate lawsuit challenging actions of the Trump administration.
Capitol News Illinois reports Raoul was among 21 Democratic state attorneys general who joined the suit. It argued the administration illegally canceled billions of dollars’ worth of federal funding that had previously been approved for the states. The A-Gs argue the decisions were based on a single clause in one federal regulation that allows agencies to terminate a grant if they determine the award no longer serves the agency’s priorities.
The lawsuit is now pending in federal district court in Massachusetts.
