Westville has always been famous for their Labor Day celebration. And if you think that is impressive, wait until you see their Freedom Celebration beginning June 8th through the 14th. That week is so packed with activities it will take a bit to highlight them. We have a chance to talk with Gary Delhaye, Mary Ann Hughes, and Ruthie Hannan about the event. Gary Delhaye describes the motivation for this celebration week
As Gary explains, the event will kick off on Monday night, the 8th, and there will be a special event on Tuesday as well.
In addition, there will be events at the Westville American Legion, a Patriotic Home Decorating contest, a celebration of Latoz Hardware’s 80th Anniversary, and a Spaghetti Dinner at St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Sunday the 14th will close the events with a variety of activities from a Patriotic Golf Cart Parade, a vendor’s fair and Flea Market at St. Mary’s Parish grounds, and a vintage baseball game at Youhas Field. a flea market and vendor’s fair.
It will be a exciting time, celebrating Vermilion County’s 200th year, and America’s 250th years from the Declaration of Independence until now.
