
Danville Police reported a false bomb threat to Danville High School. There were no explosives and no one was at risk, but the time and expense involved in responding to this event are a burden to the community and taxpayers. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Danville Police to assist in protecting students and taxpayers.
On March 5, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Danville Police were notified by District 118 staff of a possible bomb threat targeting Danville High School. The threat originated from a social media post specifically directed at the school.
Officers immediately began conducting an investigation and requested assistance from the University of Illinois Bomb Squad. The U of I Bomb Squad deployed several bomb detection dogs, and together with Danville Police, they conducted a thorough sweep of the high school both interior and exterior. No explosive devices or suspicious items were found, and the threat was quickly determined to be non-credible.
The Danville Police Department is now actively investigating the origin of the threat and working to identify the individual(s) responsible.
