The Danville Police Department provided an update regarding the shooting that occurred on November 27, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of E. Main Street. The shooting claimed the lives of 33-year-old Keith G. Stone of Danville and a 17-year-old juvenile. A third victim sustained injuries but has since been released from the hospital.
In collaboration with the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Danville Police Department announces that on July 3, 2026, at approximately 7:13 a.m., an arrest was made in connection with this double homicide. The Vermilion County State’s Attorney has charged 18-year-old Mario J. Scaife of Danville with first-degree murder and aggravated battery-firearm.
The Illinois State Police assisted the Danville Police Department in processing the crime scene and collecting evidence.
