A new law makes changes to the Illinois Prisoner Review Board after an 11-year-old Chicago boy was murdered by a man released by the board.
Capitol News Illinois reports Governor J-B Pritzker signed a bill on Friday that creates more ways for victims of crimes to be involved in decisions by the board. It also lengthens terms for board members and requires them to have more specific qualifications.
The bill’s signing comes after Crosetti Brand was convicted of murdering a child the day after the board released him from prison.
