The Danville Department of Public Works Solid Waste Division would like to announce its Holiday Collection periods. All garbage routes will operate one day behind the week of Christmas and New Year’s. This will result in collections being done Tuesday through Friday of both weeks.
The week of December 26 th - 29 th will be the Christmas extra collection. During this period, you may put extra holiday trash outside of your container for collection. Wrapping paper and packages should be broken down and placed in plastic garbage bags, set no closer than four feet from your Toter. Any large packages should be broken down, tied into manageable bundles, and placed no closer than four feet from your Toter.
The weeks of January 2 nd - 5 th , and January 8 th - 11 th , we will collect live trees. Trees should be set out no closer than four feet from your Toter. Flocked trees will be collected by the garbage trucks, and unflocked trees will be collected by the yard waste trucks. In addition, during the same two-week period, any remaining yard waste in Toters and bags set at the curbside, will also be collected.
