The Danville City Council this week will act on a proposal to allow cannabis dispensaries to locate in more parts of the city.
City code now allows cannabis stores to locate only along Lynch road. There is one such business now and another is under construction. Other developers have expressed interest in opening, but there was concern that the area would be saturated with dispensaries. The plan which was approved by the Zoning committee allows cannabis businesses to be opened along other major roads in Danville.
The city council also will vote on a request to change zoning for 209 Avenue C from residential to neighborhood business. The petitioner wants to open a dance studio in that building. The City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at city hall.
