The ordinance change that will allow cannabis dispensaries to be opened in more areas of Danville is moving on the city council. The Planning and Zoning Commission last week approved a change in the zoning requirements for Cannabis. Currently, any dispensary is limited to opening along the Lynch Road corridor. There is one cannabis dispensary operating in that area, and another is under construction. Other such requests that been rejected because it is felt that would saturate the area.
A simple majority vote of the City council will make the change official. The council is to act on the measure on December 19th. It would allow dispensaries in B2 and B3 zoning districts. Each dispensary request would still need approval of the city council.
