Filing for primary ends

The Republican party looks to continue its dominance of Vermilion County offices after filing for the upcoming primary has concluded.

Those who filed are Erika Ramsey for auditor, Melissa Quick for circuit clerk, Jane McFadden for coroner, Cathy Moulton and Matthew Long for recorder, and Jacqueline Lacy for state’s attorney. All are Republican. No Democrats filed for any county wide office. Incumbent Recorder David Stone is not seeking re-election.

There are a large number of candidates for Vermilion County Board seats. After redistricting the whole county board was up, members had to draw lots to stagger the terms again. The members who drew the two-year terms are the ones up this election and the ones who drew the four-year term will be up the next election.

the primary is in March and the general election is in November.
