Republican leaders Monday showed their unity in endorsing a candidate for the 104th Legislative District. GOP chairmen for Vermilion and Champaign counties endorsed Brandun Schweizer in his race for state representative in 2024.
Incumbent Mike Marron is stepping down from the job to become CEO of Vermilion Advantage.
Schweizer is currently the code enforcement inspector for the City of Danville. He is a 21-year Marine Corps veteran. He will be the only Republican candidate for the post in the March primary. Marguerite Bailey had considered a run for the post, but changed her mind.
The Republican chairs have apparently not yet decided who they will name to finish the final year of Marron’s term.
