VA starts Hall of Heroes

Information provided by VA Illiana

VA Illiana is starting a Hall of Heroes initiative. The Hall of Heroes initiative is a way to recognize and honor local Veterans for their contribution to our nation and communities. Anyone can nominate a Veteran for induction into VA Illiana’s Hall of Heroes. Applications for the first induction ceremony which will be held in January are due on December 15.

Each year, starting in January 2024, VA Illiana will select two Veterans for induction in VA Illiana’s Hall of Heroes. Applications for induction into the Hall of Heroes will be open twice a year and one Veteran will be selected each time. To be considered, Veterans must receive or have received services at VA Illiana and meet the criteria listed in the application packet.

“The Hall of Heroes is an opportunity to highlight the contributions Veterans make to their communities,” said VA Illiana Executive Director, Staci Williams. “Recognizing their commitment to service during and after their military career is another way to ensure we never forget their sacrifice, loyalty, and sense of duty.”

The application package is available online. Applications should be submitted via mail to Hall of Heroes, HSS to the Executive Director (00), VA Illiana Health Care System 1900 E. Main Street, Danville, IL. Questions about the Hall of Heroes Initiative may be submitted to Travis Mitchel at  travis.mitchell1@va.gov.
