Filing for the upcoming General Primary Election will begin Monday morning. The Vermilion County Clerk says the candidate filing will end at 5 p.m. on Monday, December 4. The Primary Election will be held on March 19, 2024.
Candidates must have all paperwork notarized and bound prior to filing. The Clerk’s office does have notaries available from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Candidates’ paperwork will be notarized free of charge.
The clerk’s office will be accepting filings for offices including County Auditor, Circuit Clerk, County Coroner, County Recorder, States Attorney, County Board Members, and Precinct Committeepersons. Filing for other offices will be done in Springfield.
Two people have announced that they are seeking the office of State representative for the 104th district, which includes parts of Vermilion and Champaign Counties. Incumbent State Rep Mike Marron is not seeking re-election.
The two declared candidates are Brandun Schweizer and Marguerite Bailey. Both candidates are seeking the Republican nomination.
Schweizer is a retired U.S.M.C. Master Sergeant and current City of Danville Code Enforcement Inspector. Bailey is Legislative Assistant in Marron’s office and has previously worked in the State’s Attorney and County board offices.
