On 11/15/23 around 6:08 pm, Danville Police responded to the area of Main Street and State
Street in reference to a report of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old
Danville man with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim stated he was walking in the area of Main
Street and State Street when a male black subject began verbally threatening the victim. The victim
stated he was trying to leave the area when he heard several shots fired and he was struck by the gunfire.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment where he was listed in stable condition.
Due to the diligent work of the responding officers as well as the follow-up investigation, a
suspect in this case was identified as 27-year-old Kaydo T. Moreman of Danville. On 11/16/23 around
10:08 am, Danville Police located Moreman walking in the area of Cleveland Avenue and Delaware
Avenue where he was taken into custody. Moreman is currently being held at the Danville Public Safety
Building on the initial charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and possession of firearm by a felon.
The filing of formal charges is pending a review of this case by the Vermilion County States Attorney’s
Office.
Members of the public are reminded that a complaint is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed
innocent unless proven guilty.
