The Trep School will be awarding $10,000+ in prizes at its annual Trep OnTrack Danville Pitch Competition on Saturday, November 18 at Danville Area Community College Bremer Center. The event, which is part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023, starts at 10:30 a.m.
With funding provided by the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) Restore, Reinvest, and Renew (R3) Initiative, The Trep School, founded by Danville alderwoman Tricia Teague, is in its third year of providing funds and resources to Danville area businesses. “We’re excited to see the impact these funds will have on the winning businesses as we’ve seen phenomenal changes and scaling from those that won in previous years,” Teague said.
The seven applicants will pitch to a panel of judges, whose evaluations will determine their scores, and ultimately their share of the funds. The top five businesses will receive funding from $5000 for first place to $500 for fourth and fifth place.
The judges panel for 2023 consists of:
- Wendy Lambert, CEO of STEP Recovery Center and the winner of the 2021 Pitch Competition
- Hunter LaFave, Founder of It’s in Your Head and the winner of the 2022 Pitch Competition
- Jeff Fauver, Community President and CCO of Fisher National Bank
- Tricia Teague, Founder & CEO of The Trep School
The audience, which can attend the event for free, will also get a chance to vote. Audience members can purchase vote tickets for $5 each and then cast their vote in ballot boxes associated with each business. The business with the most votes will receive 100% of the audience vote cash. “The audience vote is wildly popular every year. Someone should walk away with a few hundred extra dollars,” Teague said.
