On November 3, 2023, Tysen Richards Jr., formerly of Ridge Farm, IL, plead guilty and was sentenced by the Honorable Derek Girton to 6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of Theft from a Person. Following incarceration, Richards Jr. will serve 6 months of mandatory supervised release. The court heard evidence that on October 16, 2018, Danville Police Department responded to a call of a female victim who reported Tysen Richards Jr. ran up and grabbed her purse while the victim was speaking to another individual in the doorway of her apartment building in Danville, Il. Richards Jr. then escaped with the contents of the purse but he was quickly located by the Danville Police Department with the victim’s identification, cash, and jewelry being found on his person. State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy thanked the victim for her ability to provide police with a detailed description of the crime. She also thanked the Danville Police Department for their rapid response and recovery of the stolen property.
